Being banned from going out has its perks. =) I have the license to veg out in front of the TV feeing absolutely guiltless.
I spent lunch time watching an episode of MONK (highly entertaining) and Animals are people too on channel i which showcased a ferret playing a musical instrument and 2 huge sealions that could understand over 50 directions from their trainers at seaworld. But the most moving story, though steeped in melodrama, was The Yarn Princess on Hallmark channel. It was about a mother with low IQ whose husband, the sole breadwinner of the family, was suddenly diagnosed with schizophrenia. The entire household of 6 kids were thrown into a frenzy as their father was the binding and driving force of the family. The mother was unable to control her kids who often played truant and did not even have the ability to cook proper meals for them. Fed-up with their maltreatment and glimpses of a bleak future, 2 of her children phoned up a social worker and requested for foster care. The poor mother was devastated, helpless, but eventually the family was reunited after a lawyer fought to give the mother custody. It was just so sad.... she was so strong... in her own right. =)
