And so begins my tumultuous journey through l*w school.
Today, on our 3rd official day of school, I stepped into the library. Boy was I in for a treat. Practically every table was chock-ful of first years. We've oiled our parts and fired up the engines early, I thought to myself. I do not know anyone who will openly express that he has been slacking off, for the simple reason that everyone has already hit the books in some form or another.
Call this beginner's enthusiasm- or enthusiast's foolishness.
Starting out so early is going to cause someone, somehow, somewhere to burn out.
Or maybe not. Is this how l*w students survive? I'm starting to shudder at the fact that I'll be surviving on mere studious inertia in the time to come. After a while, working so hard will become an integral part of our lifestyle, and we'll be swimming in words, day by day.
"Don't get google-eyed," I told my friend last night as she embarked on her 80 pages of required reading.
