Love Divine
Has seen and counted, every tear it caused to fall. And the storm which Love appointed, was the choicest gift of all. "One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after. That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in His temple."-Ps27:4

New eyes for words of old

"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."- 1 Cor 10:13

I'd known this verse for a long time, but I hadn't exactly meditated on it or realized how many promises there were in it. It is a threefold promise to us believers! Because we know a God that is faithful (1) He will not tempt you above what you are able to stand (2) and He will give you a way of escape (3). What a wonderful thing! So whatever we are currently facing (be it disappointment, heartbreak, failure, the tempting currents of sin drawing you in) is just a stepping stone on a steep path upwards that will not send us rolling back headlong if we just trust in God for the strength to carry on.

Tunnel vision. I often stumble because I think that I've been cornered or that the devil has hit my Achilles heel- how wrong I am! I must resist the temptation with this promise as my sword; against the times I am tried I must bring this to the battle.

Onward, Christian soldier.
