For He has delivered -
for A
The little sparrow flies with its broken wing,
Struggling as it looks on the horizon.
But it still carries on, and it still will sing,
Knowing its home is just around the bend.
It pants, and gusts of wind blow strong,
Its constitution can barely last the mile.
Nightfall, and the course seems long,
But it will not stop til it finds home.
At last, just when the raindrops fall,
It sees the warmth of its hollow there.
Can it make the journey? It hears the calls,
And soon, it finds respite for the night.
Fear not, therefore, for if even the sparrow found its way,
You can continue down this long and winding road.
For He is with you to this day,
And counts you more precious than many sparrows.
For He has delivered your soul from death,
Your eyes from tears,
Your feet from stumbling;
You will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.
For He has delivered you,
His precious child,
Even when you feel like a little sparrow
With a broken wing.

There are times when we feel as such. Like a sparrow trying to stick to its course, but flying with one broken wing. Some kind of impediment, some kind of weight that will not go away. Or maybe we have a broken heart, a broken life, broken dreams, too many disappointments that rob us of joy and peace. The comfort that I wanted to share with this friend is that God will deliver us, as spoken of in Psalm 56. Pleaded of by David intensely in that Psalm, I believe the words to be true and I know He loves with an everlasting love. And it takes faith to take Him at His word.
