An Old, nasty enemy Labels: The devil
Today I encountered a nasty one,
Who tried to take me away from God.
It planted the seeds of deadly envy,
Drawing me away from my Master at Calvary.
I used to be acquainted with this one,
It tormented and left me all weary and worn.
No longer will you have me at your behest,
For I yield to God, and no One less.
I have got out my shield of faith,
And now, the breastplate of righteousness.
I am dressed all ready for the fight,
And truth stands firm in God's lovelight.
So Lord, we'll defeat this wicked foe,
And onward I'll go, without disgrace.
I learnt I can leave the past behind,
When God's the victory...I'll keep on the firing line!
The evil one knows you inside out. Knows where to attack you, and which area of your life is your Achilles heel. The attacks are often unexpected as the devil is the roaring lion, our insidious adversary. This is spiritual warfare at its peak. Often fragments of my past come back to haunt me and remind me of mistakes made that grieved Him much. The trick is learning how to stand firm against the wiles of the devil, and knowing exactly how to make that strategic counter attack. I've been learning, but it's tough.
